The 6,000-strong delegation of STI made waves in the 5k category of the recently concluded A Run for the Pasig River 10.10.10. A second time participant, Team STI now outgrew the less than a thousand participants who joined in last year’s Pasig River Run.
Students, faculty, and staff from 14 STI Colleges around the Metro which include Caloocan, Cubao, Fairview, Global City, Las Piñas, Makati, Marikina, Muñoz-EDSA, Novaliches, Parañaque, Quezon Ave., Recto, Shaw, and Taft, showed their commitment to ABS-CBN Foundation’s advocacy to raise awareness and funds for the rehabilitation of the ailing Ilog Pasig which plays a vital role both in our past and present ecological setup as it is a source of water and the lifeline of Laguna de Bay.
Marissa Gamalo, a 4th year BSIT student from STI College-Fairview, shares that she has realized how she was able to contribute to a bigger cause by actively participating in fun runs and other activities such as this. She also said that this activity has compelled her to assume an active role in the advocacy because of her increased awareness of the current state of Ilog Pasig.
Following STI’s 27th anniversary theme “Citizen STI,” STIers who joined the record-breaking run last Sunday was able to practice how they can be a true catalyst for social change.
STI also partnered with ABS-CBN Foundation and served as the official data encoders of registrants, tally officials during the actual event, and also provide significant logistical requirements needed for the success of the 10.10.10 Pasig River Run.
